International Alternative Networks
Global alternative communication networks are expanding and growing. Its strength comes from the cooperation of social movement organizing campaigns and media reform campaigns, which alter information and communication to the advantage of everyone. The networks are diverse in regards to their location the type of content and their focus however they are connected by a non-commercial character and an opposition to imperialist power mechanisms. International alternative networks include non-profit organizations, individuals and local sites that promote the idea of democratizing information and promoting communication reforms. They also create new infrastructures for communication that support local connections, regional shifts and global ones in relation to social movements. They also create a lattice system of transnational, local-local (especially south-south), regional and global connections that bypass imperial dynamics north-south.
Around the globe, alternative media tasks began to emerge in the early 1990s. They utilized the newly-available alternative media channels to commercial production to spread their message of development for consumers and empowerment of communities. Initially they were local, but later, they were merged and linked to national and regional boundaries to create a broader range of media options for all.
These alternatives, in contrast to the traditional infrastructure of communication that relies heavily upon capital investments, rely on volunteers to support them. They are able to provide customers with lower costs and more flexible plans. They can also implement infrastructure more quickly, allowing for a faster rollout of 5G technology, as well as larger expansion of coverage areas. This will help businesses compete more effectively on the market by ensuring their customers have access to cutting-edge technology.
